Q. How do I request a book?

Firstly, search for the item on Library Search

You can request items when all of the copies are unavailable, on loan.

The request link is located in the holdings information screen. To get to this screen, you need to click on the part of the Library entry that says checked out

Text from book listing stating checked out circled in red

If you have clicked on the item title from the search page, you will need to click on where it says LOCATIONS

Once you are in the next screen you should see the option to 'Place Hold'

Once you click on Place Hold, you should see a box that confirms the title and the pickup Library is Goldsmiths, click on Place Hold. The action will be shown as success. Once the book is available you will receive an email from the Library and it will be available for collection from the reservation shelves next to the Help Desk

If you are unable to see the Place Hold box it could be that there is a copy available on the shelf which means the item cannot be reserved. If you need help, please email library@gold.ac.uk or contact us via the Online Chat which is available from 10am - 4pm, Monday-Friday
